Oh, Sweet Serenity!

“Peace is always beautiful.” ~ Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

Good morning, dear friends.  Does it make you smile to begin your day in a sweet and peaceful manner?  I will tell you it certainly makes me smile.  And in my heart, I believe it is terribly important for our well being to begin our days in such a way.  Perhaps, my feelings stem from my age or the fact I spent twenty-eight years in middle schools (anything but serene), or that I am an only child.  Whatever the reason, I am most happy when days are peaceful, especially mornings.  And I thought, possibly, you may feel the same. Therefore, I hope you will find this post a lovely way to launch your day ~ enjoying a little ‘sweet serenity.’
“This is a wonderful day, I have never seen this one before.”~ Maya Angelo
“… she longed to go alone far into the fields and hear the birds singing, the brooks tinkling and the wind rustling through the corn, as she had when a child. To smell things and touch things, warm earth and flowers, and grasses and to stand and gaze where no one could see her, drinking it all in.” ~ Flora Thompson

“Rain hath cometh to quench the thirst of May. Waterlogged meadows bow down below a swollen sky and smile on Nature’s blessings.” ~ Freya Turrill

If you listen carefully, right before it rains you can hear the plants whispering, “We would like a soft drink from the heavens, not from a watering can or sprinkler, please.”  A soft rain is such a wonderful blessing.  One can almost hear the plants slurping as they enjoy their drink.

Oh, the delicious fragrance of honeysuckle.  And after a rain, the fragrance is even more captivating.
A lovely rain washes clean, the leaves on the trees for the enjoyment of all those who visit.

“Bless the rains, the rains that feed the earth, the trees, and the bumbling bees.” ~ Freya Turrill

“Look, really look, at how beautiful this day is. Let go of the worries and anxieties and judgments, and see the beauty.” ~ Ralph Marston

“When the world wearies and society fails to satisfy, there is always the garden.” ~ Minnie Aumonier

“Go slow, my life, go slow. Let me enjoy the beauty of silence, serenity, and solitude.‬” ~ Debasish Mridha
The Lotus symbolizes purity, beauty, majesty, grace, fertility, wealth, richness, knowledge and serenity. And, is a sacred flower for Hindus and Buddhists.  The Pink Lotus is the National Flower of India.
Very early irises! This one’s ‘Earl of Essex.’
Iris, Earl of Essex.

“By May, the great winds will drop and the great sun will shake off his harassments. Then the lovely pale-lilac irises will come out in all their showering abundance of tender, proud, spiky bloom, till the air will gleam with mauve, and a new crystalline lightness will be everywhere.” ~D.H. Lawrence

“I do believe in an everyday sort of magic – the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we’re alone.” ~ Charles de Lint

“When your world moves too fast and you lose yourself in the chaos, introduce yourself to each color of the sunset. Reacquaint yourself with the earth beneath your feet. Thank the air that surrounds you with every breath you take. Find yourself in appreciation of life.” ~ unknown

lijanaa: “ with ℒℴѵℯ ” Sit with me a while…
“Hence in solitude, or that deserted state when we are surrounded by human beings and yet they sympathize not with us, we love the flowers, the grass, the waters, and the sky. In the motion of the very leaves of spring, in the blue air, there is then found a secret correspondence with our heart.” ~ Percy Bysshe Shelley
Dear friends, I do hope you have enjoyed your visit.  And, perhaps you have received words or an image to carry in your heart.
Know, I am wishing you peace, blue skies,
and
a blissfully happy day!

Au Revoir,

Sandra

  5. I was so looking forward to reading this post in a quiet moment. Last week was busy with errands, appointments, and gardening so that I found myself not at my computer much. So this morning I’m enjoying this wonderful post — I know the gorgeous photos and accompanying quotes were selected with tender care.

Like you, my favourite days start out slowly and unfold quietly. For me it stems from the fact of having to rush off to work every morning in my earlier working life. Like you, those mornings were anything but serene. I am truly happiest when most of my days can start slowly and quietly where I can prepare my heart for the day’s events and situations.

Favourite photo: Although I love them all, I have to say I’m so, so drawn to the first one of the window opening out into the garden and a bouquet sitting on the sill. I would be sitting there for sure. It’s so inviting.

I’m wishing you a beautiful day, Sandra. Thank you for blessing us with such a taste of heaven’s goodness.

    With love, Brenda xox
