Good morning, dear friends.  To me, Sunday seems to be the perfect day to speak of love.  Our world needs so much love and it begins with each of us ~ doesn’t it?   In preparing my Sunday posts, I want them to be of value.  Words or an image we can carry with us throughout the week.  That said, I hope today’s post about love will speak to you.

Ironically, I was preparing this post on Friday when I learned of the nightmare unfolding in the lovely city we called home for thirty-two years ~ Virginia Beach, Virginia.  I spent the last four years of my career with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools in the Human Resources Division.  During my years in Human Resources, I witnessed the ’employment termination’ of many disgruntled employees and often I thought, “I wonder what will become of them.”  I also wondered, what caused them to do the things they did.  I certainly did not know.  But, they knew and possibly others knew also.  

Doesn’t hate, violent behavior and vicious speech all spell ‘lack of love’?  Clearly, I don’t have the answers.  Oh, I wish I did.  But I do know we must find solutions to the violence, and soon. Solutions which will offer hope to those who have lost their way.

As you go about your daily rounds this week, I ask you to think of those who lost their lives, their families, the survivors, my lovely city and the people who call it home.  Because for them ~ “There are moments which mark your life.  Moments, when you realize nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts, before this and after this.” ~ unknown

  1. A great message, thank you. I will never understand the hate like that demonstrated in Virginia Beach. And today is a designated day to pray for our President. Regardless of one’s political platform, it is a day to put hate aside and pray for our country and our leadership.

  2. It is always good to speak of love. And yes, the Virginia Beach story is a sad one indeed. Someone definitely needed a little more love in that picture. Every image, as always, is so carefully chosen and these truly speak to all the things love is. I hope the rest of your weekend and next week are lovely — and also filled with love.

    1. Penny, it is heartbreakingly sad. As is every such tragedy which has occurred in our country and others. This one just really hit home for me.

  4. Sandra, this is such a moving post! The images are all so beautiful and speak of love. My favorites are the two children who see no differences just love and the hands of the child and the older person. Yes, what the world needs now is love! I weep for your home for so many years, Virginia Beach and all of those directly impacted by this horrible tragedy remain in my prayers! Let us pray for our president, leaders, and our country!

  7. Thank you, Sandra for this message of love. I don’t have the answer to this violence and insanity either but I pray something will be done to end it. I cry when I think of the senseless loss of life. Praying for VB.

  8. I did not know about the horrible tragedy in Virginia Beach until I read your post. The world does need to recognize the God that made us all taught us to love thy neighbor as yourself.
    He also taught us to pray for those in authority over us. I pray for our national, state and local leaders that they will have wisdom and discernment.

    1. Bonnie, sorry you had to learn the terrible news on my post. We have endured such terrible tragedies in our country, but this one was especially hard as we lived in Va. Beach for 32 years and I spent my last four years in the school division in the building next door to where this tragedy occurred. I do pray for our leaders on all levels and hope that politics will be put aside and much-needed work accomplished.

  9. Sandra, what a thoughtful, meaningful post. Love is what we carry in our hearts, and unfortunately some do not or can not. It is beyond tragic. Your photos are so well chosen, like Pam, my favorites are the two children who just love each other, and the sweet little hands of a child and an older person. Yes, what the world needs now is love!
