“Stray Gifts”

“Pleasure is spread through the earth in stray gifts to be claimed by whoever shall find.”~William Wordsworth

Good morning, dear friends.  Welcome to “Maison De Jardin,” I am so happy you are joining me this morning.  I hope you will find pleasure in the “stray gifts” I have claimed. Personally, I believe we are all in need of a bit of inspiration from time-to-time.  At least I am.  While something may not be my style preference or yours, I can always enjoy the beauty ~ beauty never fails to lift my spirits.  It makes my heart sing.   And there has been magnificent beauty in my view this past week.  So much so, I had to begin another post (you will see later).  So find your coffee or tea and let me show you some of these lovely things.  I hope they will make your heart sing also.  I will refrain from too much chatter and let the voice of marvelously talented souls and beautiful images, speak to you.

I wish I could tell you where this magnificent home or building is located, but that was not identified.  Isn’t it beautiful?  Do notice the cherubs, I have such a fondness for them.

Don’t you love fabulous staircases and gorgeous windows?  I found several, but these two I thought were standouts.

Speaking of chandeliers, here are a few lovelies to add a little sparkle in your morning.  Which one is your favorite?

It is one thing to see a beautiful room, but it is clearly another when the room is surrounded by beauty.  And it is yet another when we are totally captivated through our awareness of the beauty.

  1. A wonderful visit, thank you very much! So much beauty, and I appreciate it all, both inside and out. My favorite chandelier was the first, more petite one. And I love that sunroom with the chaise lounge looking out to snow. If I have nowhere to go and no worries of snow damaging roofs, I can deal with it. 😉

    1. Good morning, Rita. I love to be inside looking out at the snow, too. Especially when I have no place to go. I guess I don’t think too much about roof damage in our area – our old home (1939) has seen many deep snows. But I do know snow can be dangerous. Happy day to you – I imagine your head must be spinning with holiday plans with your large family.

  2. Sandra, what beautiful and inspiring gifts you have bestowed this rainy and cold morning. Your images from the first one to the last captivated me and reminded me to take time and notice the beauty that is all round, it only takes eyes to see it. I could not pick a favorite chandelier because I love them all. You gave me a lovely start to my day. Thank you sweet friend!

    1. Good Morning, Pam. So happy to see you this morning. You are correct, we all need to pause a moment and drink in the gorgeousness that surrounds us. Especially during this upcoming busy holiday season. Wishing you a lovely day, dear friend!

  3. As always beautiful pictures and lovely quotes. The rooms with the windows all around were my favorite.

  4. Oh my, it was all gorgeous. That first photo of Gloucester Cathedral — I’d want to sit and stare in that space for hours. It’s breathtaking! And the staircases, they are magnificent. As for the chandeliers, since you did ask which was our favourite, I’d have to choose the last one with the blowsy roses hanging down. Loved that one.

As for that sweet photo of the little one — so precious. Its in perfect juxtaposition to Mr. Einstein’s beautiful thought about our lives mean something when we try to make the “life of every living thing nobler and more beautiful.” Yes, we want that for our loved ones, for that little one, for every person on this planet.

Thanks for sharing your heart with us today… a glimpse of heaven.

    1. Dear Brenda, I am so pleased you enjoyed your visit. My favorite chandelier is also the one of the roses, I thought it was lovely. I thank you so much for your beautiful thoughts and very kind words. You are a treasure, dear friend. ❤❤

  5. My favorite chandelier was the first one with simple elegance and perfect proportions for the beautiful room. Thanks for your” stray gifts”. You find such beauty to share with us and enrich my day.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving next week.
I am in the full preparation mode since I will have family here from Wednesday until Sunday.

    1. Dear Bonnie, so good to see you. I am pleased you enjoyed your visit. The holidays are with us once again, they always seem to come in a flash. I hope they will go slowly this year. Enjoy your family, I know you are so busy preparing for their arrival. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your family.

  6. Sandra, I so enjoyed my visit this morning! You have such wonderful taste….each picture is both stunning and inspiring. Oh, those chandeliers…I don’t think I can choose a favorite! They are all beautiful! Enjoy your day, sweet friend!

    1. Many thanks, Shannon for your visit and kind words. Thanksgiving is almost here, enjoy your weekend!

  7. Of course I love beautiful staircases and windows but my heart goes pitter patter when I see a beautiful chandelier! The first one is my favorite because it is one that I could see even in my humble abode–I would make it work!

The English garden writer Beverley Nichols called chandeliers Bouquets of Glass. Don’t you love that!
