Happy Valentine’s Day

“The human heart feels things the eye cannot see, and knows, what the mind cannot understand.” ~ Robert Valett

Good morning, dear friends.  Happy Valentine’s Day!  I hope all of you have plans for a sweet day.

To me, Valentine’s Day is about showing our love to all those we love and hold dear.  So, be sure to tell those special people in your life what they mean to you.  Hug and squeeze them extra tight.  You will always be happy you did. And, so will they.

“The rose  ~ the place of memory.” ~ Elie Wiesel

Red roses are for many ‘the flower’ of  Valentine’s Day.  I will agree they are beautiful, but, often hothouse roses are not very fragrant.  Most likely, I am spoiled by the glorious fragrance of roses from our garden.  However, many beautiful words have been written through the years about roses and their connection with love. But, in my opinion, none more beautiful than the words of Amanda McBroom.  Sung by, Bette Midler.  Give a listen, and Enjoy ~  “The Rose.”

Wishing you and all those you love a beautiful Valentine’s Day.

  1. What a lovely post and such beautiful photos! Have a beautiful Valentine’s Day filled with love.

And thank you for coming over and leaving such “lovely” words on Marmelade Gypsy! I really appreciated your visit!

    1. Ah, Jeanie thank you. Wishing you and yours a beautiful Valentine’s Day as well.
I love visiting your blog and traveling with you! ❤

  2. Sandra, this is such a beautiful Valentine’s Day post. I have been busy baking cookies all day, and this evening we will have a little party with the kids. I hope you have a happy Valentine’s Day, sweet friend!

  3. Sandra, a lovely post as always! It is almost midnight at your home, but I hope you and your hubby had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! We celebrated with my 88 year old Dad, son and DIL, and our little princess! I have always loved “The Rose” and have sung it a few times. Have a wonderful weekend sweet friend!

    1. Thanks so much, Pam. Sounds like you had a lovely evening. Ours was a nice quiet dinner at home. I would love to hear you sing “The Rose.” I think it is beautiful. Wishing you and yours a lovely weekend. Spring is on her way, dear friend!

    1. Dear Lidy, thank you so much for visiting. Our Valentine’s Day was truly lovely and I hope yours was as well. I am sure you must be quite spoiled being in CA with your glorious roses and their magnificent fragrance, I know I would be. My mom visited her brother there and always said the CA roses were something to behold, in beauty and fragrance. The few we grow here in WV are so lovely in their fragrance, but we have dreadful cold to contend with. However, we stand in awe when they bloom.

I do hope you will visit again soon!

  4. What a beautiful Valentine’s Day post, Sandra.

Lovely thoughts to accompany the photo with its exquisitely fashioned heart. And such a gorgeous red rose! (I too lament the fragrance-less roses that are available now. To me, ‘they’ have squashed the soul of the rose by making it thus. I try to focus on the fact that they are still so very pretty to look at with their red velvety petals.

    1. I completely agree with you, Brenda. They remain lovely in their appearance, but the fragrance seems to be lost. However, you are right – we must enjoy what we see.

      Happy day, my friend!
